It is a very odd game that plays like Arkanoid, but has RPG story elements. Very strange hybrid, but it is a lot of fun and can be played co-op. I highly recommend you try it if you have the chance.

Vyse Says:

As my good man Fleck mentioned, the game is like Arkanoid and is co-op. The general story is this: There are four kingdoms (Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth) that ruled the world. A sacred sword ruled over the four kingdoms...the TRIALIGHT, a weapon created by the Arch Mage WYLDE. The one who possesses this sword can unite the four kingdoms. To cut to the chase, chaos overwhelms three kingdoms, leaving the kingdom of WIND remaining. Each kingdom has a Firestriker, and you take the role of SLADER, the Firestriker of the WIND kingdom. Create your own brand of justice with the TRIALIGHT!

The graphics are fairly decent in the still shots. I like the forest level in the beginning and some of the things in the game make the game look decent, though it is a very simple looking game for 1994. It works for this game considering the kind of game it is, but it won't wow on any level. I found the music pretty average. It works, but it's quite repetitive. The gameplay is pretty simple. There are "four" Firestrikers that you play with, each with some minor differences. In multi mode, that "wizard" doesn't seem to be playable, though you can control him in one player mode with the L and R buttons. That being said, there are theoretically five characters. You hit a orb of energy into different areas destroying enemies and unlocking treasures to get hearts and power shot items. Power shots burst through many blocks with their power.

The multi mode is up to four players as well, giving you a reason to use that multi-tap that collects dust in your closet. It's not groundbreaking, but it adds a little variety not found in the ordinary game. Other than that, that's it. Very simple, pretty obscure. I thought it was fun the first time around so it's worth the price it goes for. Looking for something different? Give Firestriker a whirl.
